GA District Civitans Spring Mtg '21
April 23-24, Athens GA
The GA District Civitan Spring meeting was recently held in Athens, and Civitans from across the state, from Cummings to Dublin, from Marietta to Cook County, were joined by many others online. Held at the Hotel Indigo, the meeting was led by newly ratified GA Governor Pamela Brems.
As Gov-Elect, Pamela spiritedly took over the position of Governor when former Gov Kellie Warren had to regretfully step down. Cathy Bailey, Area 4 Director, and member of the Metro Atlanta club accepted the position of Governor Elect. Thank you both for stepping up to such key leadership roles.
The spring meeting afforded the GA District Foundation leadership, led by Chairperson Mary Karras, the other trustees and foundation officers, to get together to discuss and manage vital foundation issues.
Those gathered in Athens and online received updates from area directors and other important district speakers. CI Director nominee Bill Tolleson also shared an inspirational message of what motivates us to serve and sharing Civitans with others. Invited special guest speaker Marcella Genut, Communications Director from Extra Special People, Inc., presented an emotional response to the achievements and successes of those at ESP and the many they support. The meeting was highlighted by feature guest speaker Diane Hansard, International Region Two Senior Director. Diane shared key International news and updates on key amendments, by-lays and policies. The most important of these for clubs across the country is the International Board proposed plan to eliminate the present district structure, to move to a broader region structure where Civitan International can provide vital leadership and council to clubs directly.
